Jessilyn Gibas received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS) with a specialization in the performing arts population. Jessilyn grew up dancing in the Chicagoland area and danced with a local pre-professional ballet company in high school. She then graduated from Indiana University where she majored in Contemporary Dance, received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, and became STOTT Pilates Matwork 1 & 2 certified, before starting graduate school at RFUMS. Over her 17 years as a performing artist, she has performed works by artists of Hubbard Street 2, the Bolshoi Ballet, Laurie Eisenhower, Keigwin + Company, Kyle Abraham, and Paul Taylor. She has also danced a variety of roles in ballets including The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and Don Quixote. Her personal experience with dance injuries throughout the year inspires her to help dancers and athletes return to performing safely and pain free.
Jessilyn provides many dance studios with medical consultations, community health care network creation, screenings, conditioning programs, and educational lectures for artists, staff, and parents. Her combination approach using manual therapy and biomechanics is assisted by advanced certification courses in Dry Needling, Graston, Active Release Techniques, BFR, DorsaVi Technologies, Progressing Ballet Technique, STOTT Pilates and more.
