What a great second year of Nutcracker at WSBC!

This year, our main-stage shows took place at Nazareth Academy from December 16-18. We added a couple of new characters, new props (including a giant box for the arrival of our dancing dolls), and a new backdrop to fancy up the party scene. Our 17 Conservatory dancers were joined by 4 community cast members, 3 dancers from our Pre-Conservatory program, 2 faculty members, and José Pablo Castro Cuevas and Miu Tanaka from the Joffrey Ballet. Our Nutcracker Boutique expanded and we exceeded last year’s ticket sales! Residents from various retirement communities throughout the area, and WSBC supporters and partners were in attendance at every show.

Our first annual Nutcracker Suite took place on December 9 at The Community House in Hinsdale. Over 50 children from the surrounding communities crafted a costume, learned choreography, and joined us onstage in an interactive story-telling/performace, in which they danced as angels at the beginning of Act II.

We also performed again this year at the Holly Jolly Trolley, and delivered dance to the residents of the Sheridan at Oakbrook through a Nutcracker-themed show and tell.
